Get Meghan Markle’s Style

Meghan Markle became the Dutchess of Sussex on May 19, 2018 by marrying England’s Prince Harry. The dashing prince was wowed over by American Meghan when they met on a blind date, and soon the couple was inseparable. It truly is a modern-day love story.

What we love about Meghan is her style. She has a glamorous, neutral color wardrobe, and prefers to wear black and white. Meghan also likes to wear bodysuits to give herself a sleek image. See below.

Meghan’s classic style is timeless. She wore a gorgeous wedding dress designed by Clare Waight Keller from Givenchy. The ivory white gown features 3/4 inch sleeves, a flathering boat-neckline, and long train. Her veil was a stunning 16 ft, long. She also wore a diamond tiara from the 1930’s with a diamond brooch in the center from the 1800’s.

Her dainty earrings were exquisite and understated showing class and self-esteem. So good to see that as I sometimes think that the rest of the world thinks all Americans are from the Honey Boo Boo neighborhood. (No, we do not all look like that.)

The bride wore delicate diamond stud earrings from the “Galanterie de Cartier earrings” by French jeweler Cartier, along with one simple diamond bracelet also by the designer (from their “Reflection de Cartier bracelet“) on her right hand – both in white gold and diamonds.

After the wedding ceremony, Meghan changed into a stunning halter top wedding dress and handsome Harry changed into a tux. Both looked fabulous!

It’s every little girl’s dream

To marry a prince and be taken away in a coach to a romantic honeymoon. This gives every single woman in America the thought, if Meghan can do it, so can I.

Who is the Medical Medium?

Who is the Medical Medium and what does he claims causes autoimmune disease? by Terry Ryan, Health Blogger

The medical medium is, Anthony William, the now famous author of the New York Times best selling book, Medical Medium. According to William, he has the miraculous talent of being able to diagnose illnesses in individuals just by being close to them. Previously, he was giving phone consultations for $500.00, but he is now so popular and busy that he has suspended one on one consultations, according to his web site. He does however, have a few great YouTube videos that I would recommend that you watch. Just type in Medical Medium in the search bar.

Anthony William’s God-given gift for healing is nothing short of miraculous. This landmark  book sharing Anthony’s immense knowledge of how to prevent and combat disease will impact the medical community for decades. Don’t wait for this information trickles its way into the mainstream in  to 15 years. Buy this book and start getting healthier right now.”

The most prominent message that William promotes throughout his book is that autoimmune disease is caused by Epstein Barr Virus (EBV). Many people remember catching the “kissing disease” in high school or college called mononucleosis. Its main symptom was debilitating fatigue. What many people don’t realize is the virus stays in their body in a dormant state, and will SOMETIMES be activated again when people are in a high stress and low immune condition.

>>Click here for the Holistic Epstein Barr Virus Protocol recommendations.<<<

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), also known as human herpes virus 4, is a member of the herpes virus family. It is one of the most common human viruses. EBV is found all over the world. Most people get infected with EBV at some point in their lives. EBV spreads most commonly through bodily fluids, primarily saliva. According to William, it is the ROOT OF ALL AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES.

Symptoms:

Symptoms of EBV infection can include

Sick child in bed
  • fatigue
  • fever
  • inflamed throat
  • swollen lymph nodes in the neck
  • enlarged spleen
  • swollen liver
  • rash

Not everyone is convinced that EBV is the cause of everyone’s autoimmune diseases. In Isabella Wentz book, The Root Cause, there are 6 main causes.

  1. Your genes. Family history sets you up. (Not sure I agree with this.)
  2. Gluten Sensitivity. If you have an autoimmune disease, you most likely have a gluten sensitivity.
  3. Glutamine and Zinc depletion
  4. Parasites!  (Ugh! Didn’t see that one coming.)
  5. Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) Caused by taking too many antibiotics, eating too much junk food.
  6. Candida (Fungal infection)

And if you read other books…you will get different takes on WHAT CAUSES AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE? Confused? You bet!

Do not ask traditional medicine this question. “What causes autoimmune disease?” They are educated on how to treat a disease and not how to prevent it or the root cause. How do they treat autoimmune disease?  They treat the symptoms with medications.

William has a deep and raspy voice with almost a tinge of somebody who smoked too many cigarettes. He laughs freely and often, and is incredibly passionate about what he preaches. He calls the voice he hears speaking into his ear, Spirit. His first scan (reading from Spirit) was at the age of 4 when he pointed at his grandmother and said, “Lung cancer!” Obviously his family was baffled that a 4 year-old would say lung cancer, but unfortunately for the grandmother, she indeed did have lung cancer diagnosed a few weeks later by a doctor.

For a while, William wanted to turn the voice off that was speaking in his ear, Spirit. He would shimmy up trees trying to get as far away from the voice as he could, but to his dismay, the voice was always to be with him. Eventually, he accepted it as his duty and privilege to be able to diagnose people.

I’ve seen him give health readings on TV to the host of whatever talk show he was on. He told one woman that she didn’t need to worry about the calcium deposit in her breast that was showing up on the mammogram that had her and her doctor concerned. Needless to say, she was relieved, and she had not mentioned any of her health problems or concerns prior to the scan. He also said she had a thyroid problem that needed to be addressed. (Ugh! Who doesn’t????)

On another show, he told the host that she had an inflamed pancreas and she burst out with, “I knew it!”  Seems she had been suffering with a pain in the right side of her rib cage, and had already made an appointment with her doctor.  He also told her, much to her shock, that she had a kidney stone.

William is not the first medical medium. Edgar Cayce (March 18, 1877 – January 3, 1945) is a historically famous medium who had the talent to diagnose ill people just by looking at them. You can read more about Edgar Cayce, a fascinating person, by clicking on this link. EDGAR CAYCE

Here is Anthony William’s new cookbook.
William is a proponent of fruit and lots of it. Just like the poor avocado a few years ago, fruit has taken on a bad reputation that it was not good for you. How can something that is made by nature, as long as it isn’t drenched in harmful chemicals or corrupted by GMOs, be bad for you?  Yes, fruit contains sugar but your body and brain need the right kind of sugar that fruit contains.

Fruit saved me. When I upped my fruit intake, I was able to energize my body so I was able to return to activities that for a while, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, had prevented me from doing.

Medical Medium, the book, covers a lot of topics towards healing including, medication, menopause, Lyme disease, gut health, essential angels, etc.

I give the book 5 stars just for the reason it answers a lot of questions for me. The book also gives HOPE that there is a way back to health.  I always thought my autoimmune disease was brought on by EBV that I came down with after attending the Montreal Boat Show in 1991, and it rears its ugly head every once in a while, usually when I least need it to. Anthony William confirmed my intuition.

You can purchase Medical Medium as an ebook or physical copy. Here are both.

Stitch Fix | Online Personal Stylists for Women

I’ll be the absolute first to admit that I have no style…zip…nada. There you have it. The first step is admitting that you have a problem. I envy women who can pull an outfit together and look like that they stepped out of a page in a fashion magazine. Nope. Not me.

Unable to afford a personal stylist like, Rachel Zoe, I have to refer to magazines

catalogs and store mannequins, but I never look quite put together. So, you can imagine my delight when a friend told me about Stitch Fix, an online personal stylist. Whooohoooooo! (Available through monthly subscription.) I was ready to give it a try.

Stitch Fix by Terry Ryan

Their web site (Stitchfix.com)  is very easy to navigate with lots of amazing photos of beautiful clothes. First step is filling out a questionnaire so that they can get a feel of your style and size. You can also select a price range and shipment schedule. I must say …easy peasy. Along with signing up, I submitted my credit card number, and then I was in eager anticipation for my first shipment to arrive.

In about 2 weeks the first box was at my front door. I ripped into the box to find a couple of cute tops, a black dress, and stylish necklace. Well done, I thought. I have to say I liked everything.

My review of Stitch Fix by Terry Ryan for Slim healthy Sexy

Included with the clothes was a colored styling chart showing how to mix and match the clothes in the shipment. Nice touch! The total price was around $168.00 and I did keep everything.
A month later, I received another box at my front door (These are delivered by USPS.) This time I was not as eager to dive into the box, and to tell you the truth, it sat unopened on my dining room table for a couple of days before I found the time to open it. The magic of surprise had worn off, and I was not as thrilled to be receiving more clothes. I hadn’t worn the clothes that I had received the month before, so let’s say, the “bloom was off the rose.” Now I had the exasperating task of returning the items I did not want. Ugh! Returns!

My Review of Stitch Fix by Terry Ryan for slimhealthysexy.comYou have 3 days to return before your credit card would be “hit” so time is of the essence. To return you have to log in to your account and check off the items before you send them back for credit. But of course, I forgot my password so I moused over and clicked the “reset password” button. I received a message that the link to reset would be sent to my email box. I waited and waited and waited.  I must have hit the reset link 5 times but NOTHING in the email box. Okay, time to call customer service, but wait….no telephone number could be found for customer service. I had violated my all important rule on ordering anything over the Internet. THEY MUST HAVE A CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER! Also, I usually like to try calling the customer service number before ordering or signing up. Does an actually ENGLISH speaking person answer?

There is a section on the web site for Q and A, and you can submit any questions or My review of Stitch Fix by Terry Ryan for slimhealthysexy.comconcerns to hello@stitchfix.com. I received an automatic reply email that said you have ticket number so and so, and refer to that number for further communications. I emailed Stitch Fix about the lack of help to reset my password. About an hour later, I did receive some actual email assistance and I was told to return the items. I had also requested to cancel my account and they confirmed that I was canceled. I put the clothes in the bag they provide and sent them back VIA USPS, and you do not have to pay to return. A few days later I received an email and credit for the returned items.  All is good…

My review of Stitch Fix by Terry Ryan for Slimhealthysexy.comWeeks later, another box was delivered to the door from Stitch Fix. Oh no! I immediately tried to log on with the temporary password that Stitch Fix had sent to me a few weeks before, but that didn’t work, and I had to resort to RESET PASSWORD once again. Same story, the link never showed up in my email box. I  emailed hello@stitchfix.com to let them know of the error that they had made, and remind them that I had canceled. Also, I had noticed the week prior that a $20.00 charge from Stitch Fix had shown up on my credit card.  Why???

I got another automatic reply email and 1/2 hour later I did receive an email from a Melissa telling me that they did see that I had canceled and, sorry, send the stuff back. She said they were also going to credit me the $20.00. Just log onto you account…UGH!  I can’t log on to my account. I sent Melissa another email saying I CAN’T LOG ON TO MY ACCOUNT!  While I am writing this, I keep checking my email to see if I have received an email from Stitch Fix with my NEW temporary password. Nothing yet.

Okay, time to open the box that I want to send back. Here is what was inside.

My review of Stitch Fix by Terry Ryan for Slimhealthysexy.com

Got to say…not bad. There were some cute tops and one skirt. Nothing I wanted to keep. but I image if I was a young 20 something with surplus money, this would be right up my alley. (Just checked my email. Nothing yet.)

The clothes is all from China. I noticed one shirt said 100 Rayon. The necklace is $34.00 and I’m thinking I could probably pick something similar up at Bealls for a lot less or at Macy’s in the sales pile. In fact, I believe you can shop for a lot less at TJ Max’s than what comes in the box, however you are paying the extra for convenience.

Ahhh finally!

My final comments about Stitch Fix.

  • The clothes is of medium quality from China and made for Stitch Fix. No judgement there, just stating a fact.
  • I ordered extra large and some of the items fit and some do not. It is hit and miss because no two bodies are alike.
  • I think through the questionnaire they got my “style” down. Casual. Down to earth, Sporty and not too fancy.
  • I may be too old for this service and it is more a young women’s thing.
  • I was the dummy who didn’t write down their password but then again…who does?
  • Shame of them for not having a customer service number.
  • For me, it is better to go to the store and try things on…and cheaper.
  • There you go. That’s my review. Check it out if you want. It may be something for you.

The End of The 30 Day Juice Challenge

I have completed the 30 Day Juice Challenge and wanted to give you my personal review.Smile

100_1697It wasn’t hard and became routine so I give it a 10 on the easy scale. Let me add that I work from home so it is easy for me to prep and prepare juicing at my leisure.  It would be much harder for a person who has a 9-5 job to prepare for juicing.

As far as taste, it is something you will get used to. It only took me a couple of times to look forward to the juice. I also flavored it up with apples and ginger. After that even kale is pretty yummy. Who would of thought?

I didn’t find the cost prohibitive. I buy lots of produce every week anyway so this wasn’t a new area for me. Previously to my juicing challenge I tried to get as much organic as possible so I was already on the right track.

My disappointment was with the weight loss which was only a couple of pounds even though I was using once a day juicing as a meal replacement and gave up sugar and gluten. I did lose a few pounds but not the 20 I was hoping for. (sigh)

I felt fine but never got the “I feel like I have the energy of a 20 year-old.” Nope! It didn’t happen. I 20140218_075954would say my energy level only increase a tiny bit. That for me was my biggest disappointment.

The best benefit was my skin became flawless and glowed, so I at least looked better. I no longer craved sugar or processed carbs. My taste buds now desired a higher grade of eating.

So, what I learned:

I may have to juice 100% everyday to get the full benefits that Joe Cross brags about on Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.

I am using the wrong juicer. I am using a cheap juice extractor and that doesn’t get the most juice out of the veggies and it heats the foods up destroying enzines and nutrients. See my post on Juicing vs. Blending.

Will I continue juicing?  Yes, I will but not so dedicated. To complete my experiment, I am going to try juicing 100% for 7 days to see if I get WEIGHT LOSS and FANTASTIC ENERGY, but not right now. I need a break. I was doing Holy Juicing for Lent but I think I lost my followers who were doing it with me. Yes, it’s hard.

One thing I am sticking to is giving up white sugar and process foods. Yuck. And breads with

8 oz a day.

8 oz a day.

gluten. Bread just doesn’t agree with me anymore. Of course they are now putting all kinds of disgusting and dangerous chemicals in bread. All to keep it on the shelf longer and to make more money. No problem, there are tons of breads in the freezer section at the store that are gluten free and I have a great recipe for almond bread.

There you go. My review of the 30 Day Juicing Challenge.

Juicing vs. Smoothies

Http://www.slimhealthysexy.comJUICING VS. BLENDING: WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

This is a question that I get asked all the time. Which is better: juicing or blending? Does one offer more health benefits than the other? Juices and smoothies both play an important role in any wellness program.  Experts believe that both juicing and blending are very beneficial, but in different ways.

Here is a short comparison that explains the differences between the two as well as some of the specific benefits of each.

What’s The Difference?

JUICING

Without all the fiber, your digestive system doesn’t have to work as hard to break down the food and absorb the nutrients. In fact, it makes the nutrients more readily available to the body in much larger quantities than if you were to eat the fruits and vegetables whole. This is especially helpful if you have a sensitive digestive system or illness that inhibits your body from processing fiber. The fiber in produce helps slow down the digestive process and provides a steady release of nutrients into the blood stream. Jason Vale calls juicing “A nutrient express!” Freshly squeezed vegetable juices form part of most healing and detoxification programs because they are so nutrient rich and nourish and restore the body at a cellular level.

A word of caution: When you remove the fiber from the produce, the liquid juice is absorbed into your blood stream quickly. If you are only juicing fruits, this would cause a rapid spike in blood sugar and unstable blood sugar  levels can lead to mood swings, energy loss, memory problems and more!

Fiber is also filling and without fiber in the juice, some people tend to get hungry again quickly.

inderwerwerwex

Smoothies

Unlike juices, smoothies consist  of the entire entire fruit or vegetable, skin and all and contain all of the fiber from the vegetables.
However, the blending process breaks the fiber apart (which makes the fruit and vegetables easier to digest ) but also helps create a slow, even release of nutrients into the blood stream and avoids blood sugar spikes. Smoothies tend to be more filling, because of the fiber, and generally faster to make than juice, so they can be great to drink first thing in the morning as your breakfast, or for snacks throughout the day.

By including the fiber in your smoothie, the volume will increase. Also, you can pack more servings of fruits and veggies into a single serving of juice than you can into a smoothie.

1. It’s best not to combine fruits and vegetables (unless it’s apple). This can affect how well your digestive enzymes function.

This doesn’t seem to matter too much in green juices and smoothies, but vegetables like carrots, beetroots, broccoli and zucchini don’t combine well with fruit due to their high starch content. In his book Food Combining Made Easy, Dr. Herbert Shelton explains that starchy foods have to be eaten alone because starches are digested with enzymes different from those used for any other food group. Combining starchy foods with fruit may cause fermentation and gas. However, Dr. Shelton found that green leafy veggies combine well with pretty much everything.

2. Try to drink your juice or smoothie straight away. After 15 minutes, light and air will destroy much of the nutrients. If you can’t drink it straight away, transfer to a dark airtight container until you’re ready.

Using The Right Equipment

To get the most benefit from your juices and smoothies, it’s important to use the right equipment. Invest in a good-quality juicer. Cheaper, centrifugal juicers introduce heat and oxygen and destroy the enzymes and nutrients in your fruits and vegetables. While it may cost you a bit more initially, a premium cold-press juicer will produce a superior-quality juice and allow you to extract more from your fruit and vegetables, saving expense in the long-term.
The machines themselves will also generally last longer. In contrast to the rough extraction of centrifugal juicers, mastication or cold-press juicers compress fruit and vegetables to ‘squeeze’ out their juice.

Cold Press Juicer

vitamix-blender1

Blender

The same goes for a blender. You want a blender that is gentle on your produce and doesn’t heat up the enzymes as it’s pulling apart the fibers. We spend money on gadgets, clothes, restaurants and other luxuries so, if you can afford it, investing in your health by buying a quality juicer or blender is totally worth it.

What Should I Look For
In A Juicer?

When we are looking for our perfect juicer here is what we look for: (Great source for this info was http://www.foodmatters.tv/juicer-buying-guide)

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal juicers are commonly available in retail outlets and are the cheapest type to purchase. These machines initially extract juice by pulverizing fruit and vegetables against a round cutting blade that spins very quickly against a metal strainer. The centrifugal force generated by the spinning motion of the cutting surface separates the juice from the pulp.

  • Pros: Cheaper
  • Con:  Not the best way to extract juice because heat may destroy nutrients.

Cold Press Juicers

These machines operate via a masticating (chewing) or cold press method to produce a superior juice to their centrifugal counterparts. In contrast to the rough extraction and high speeds of centrifugal juicers, cold press juicers operate at lower speeds and gently compress fruit and vegetables to ‘squeeze’ out their juice. While more costly, their slower and more thorough extraction rates produce a higher-quality juice, and more of it.

  • Pro:  Higher juice yield
  • Con: Expensive

BLENDERS

Blenders are coming out of the pantries and being used as a great way to add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. Plus, it doesn’t “waste” the pulp as it is finely shredded/blended into an easily drinkable form. I know a lot of people who prefer to juice this way. They add ice and protein powders and make a pretty delectable smoothie. I wrote a blog post about Andrea who has lost 60 pounds using this kind of method to drink her veggies and fruit. She uses a Nutribullet and adds ground up flax seeds. Just looking at her you can tell it works as far as weight loss.

  • Pro: Uses all of the vegetables and fruit (no left over pulp)
  • Con:  Assimilation of micronutrients are slowed down because it requires more of the digestive process

What to look for when choosing a juicer

    • Able to easily juice all greens, herbs and grasses (with a high yield)
    • Good to juice fruits, including soft varieties
    • Cold pressed, to produce a superior juice
    • Low speed (rpm), to minimize oxidation and produce a longer lasting juice
    • Able to make nut milks
    • Easy to clean
    • Low noise!
