Their enzymatic functions, or lack thereof, will determine the state of health or disease that your blood and body tissue will or can possess. This is why it is critical for you to understand the health principles behind the Acid Alkaline Diet (also referred to as an Alkaline Diet Cancer Diet, Acid Alkaline Balance Diet, or Alkaline Acid Diet). It is important that we learn to eat Alkaline Foods with PROPER FOOD COMBINING PRINCIPLES according to the Acid Alkaline Food Chart. We must avoid eating an Acid Forming indigestible Diet that will only supply Empty Calories devoid of nutrients due to bad food-combining practices. When we are putting our Alkaline Foods List together, we should intend to follow an Alkaline Diet Plan of Alkaline Diet Recipes. This will promote an Alkaline Forming Diet and will supply the body with the full complement of vitamins, minerals and nutrients required for the body to attain the ultimate health, power, strength and endurance. ENERGY ROBBERS! CUT YOUR LOSSES!® The serious athlete or non-athlete must learn to recognize and expel the enemy from within by facing his or her own demons that are, or will, continue to haunt one while depleting one's cellular energy, namely, LOW CHRONIC ACIDOSIS. All food diets are either acid-forming or alkaline-forming. Although the body requires approximately 20% of the diet to be derived from acid-forming foods that can be properly digested to help maintain pristine health, high acid-forming diets that cannot be properly digested acidify body tissue and eventually lead to Low Chronic Acidosis that will drain and weaken the health and energy of every human cell in the body. WHY WE CAN WE REACH MAXIMUM CELL™ WITH The A-A-A Diet™! The A-A-A Diet™: Ultimate Energy Fuel Source for Power, Strength & Endurance When food is properly combined, the digestive abilities are accelerated, and the nutrients are quickly absorbed for optimum nutrition which provides you, the person or athlete, with power, strength and endurance for peak, physiological or athletic performance. When foods are not properly combined, indigestion is the result, the proteins putrefy, and starches and sugars ferment, poisoning the body on a cellular level. It is important for body cells to maintain a high level of cellular energy to attain, and maintain, optimum health through an alkaline medium. Acidified body cells become weak and lead to various unhealthy and low-grade body tissue conditions and diseases, such as low-grade acidosis, chronic acidosis, nutrient deficiencies, bone diseases, arthritis, muscular weakness and diseases, organic ligament damage, cancer, strokes, heart disease, colon disease, and a host of digestive problems that rob you of the energy your body cells require. Why? Acidified body cells are robbed of the oxygen and energy that is required to maintain a strong and healthy immune system that can quickly help your body cells to repair, regenerate and replenish the cellular nerve energy, power, strength and endurance in your bones, muscles, and ligaments, for the maximum performance of all physiological and biological functions of the body.

Acidified body cells rob you of the minerals such as the calcium required for strong bones, and lead to bone diseases such as arthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer.

Acidified body cells rob you of the macro-mineral such as magnesium, required for ultimate muscle function and support that is needed for optimum strength, and calcium for skeletal support, so you won’t develop chronic back problems or herniated discs, or any chronic bone condition that may hinder superior athletic and/or non-athletic performance.

How Can We Attain the Athletic/Non-Athletic Health, Power, Strength & Endurance Desired?

By reaching maximum CELL™ (Cellular Energy Loaded Levels) for peak, athletic/non-athletic performance, and by applying the principles that are found in the book on The A-A-A Diet™ Acid Alkaline Association® Program.

It is not what we eat but what we digest and assimilate that adds to our health, strength and usefulness.

The Sports Diet Physiology Experts Support For Peak, Athletic Performance

The message is clear for all athletes who desire to possess superior athletic performance and endurance.

Eat a high-carbohydrate diet of raw fruits, vegetables and nuts.

This does not include eating processed high-carbohydrate foods which contain empty calories that will deplete your nerve and cellular energy.

Which alkaline-forming diet do the sports physiology experts tell us is the superior diet to eat for optimum athletic performance?

The Guyton & Hall Textbook of Medical Physiology, Tenth Edition, now being utilized by many major universities and colleges for teaching human physiology classes, states: “a high-carbohydrate diet is the superior diet for attaining peak athletic performance, endurance, and for generating maximum power and strength.”

Why a High-Carbohydrate Diet? Because, no diet stores more glycogen in the muscle as a high-carbohydrate diet. Glycogen, when needed, is converted into glucose, the main fuel for optimum athletic performance, endurance, and generating the ultimate body power and strength. Glucose, not protein, is the main fuel for peak athletic performance.

Vegan Athletes Who Practice the Philosophy of the Acid/Alkaline Balance

One of the greatest professional tennis players of her time, Martina Navratilova, believes in a vegan diet, and had this to say about her nonsense approach to nutrition: “Eating whole foods and plant-based foods and juicing are my main diet choices. I believe that vegetarian protein is important, but it should only complement a meal that is plant-based, with fresh veggies, whole grains and fruits.”

Vegans can be fit, strong and healthy and even compete in sports. Not only can they compete in sports, vegan athletes can, and do, win world championships. In fact, a lot of athletes on a vegan diet have said they can compete at a higher level since turning to a vegan diet. Cutting out artery-clogging animal fats has certainly done these vegan athletes a world of good.
But, Why Aren’t There More Vegan Athletes In The World?
Well, when you consider that only around 0.5% (although this figure may be higher) of the world’s population is vegan, and say, 1% of those vegans (as an example) chooses to become athletes, they are outnumbered by non-vegans on a massive scale. If 50% of the world’s population was vegan, and 5% of those were into competitive sports, and that tallied with 5% of non-vegans competing in sports, then we would obviously have more of a balance.

PRAL Concept Versus The A-A-A Diet™ In Regards To Proper Food Combining!

The “PRAL” Table of Contents contains very good information, in relation to how foods are metabolized either acidically or alkaline, during the digestive process within the body. But the PRAL Table of Contents does not take into consideration the correct food-combining principles that two alkaline-forming foods eaten together, such as a banana and an orange (although alkaline-forming when eaten separately) will metabolize acidically when combined together.

This is because the combination of acid-fruit sugars, which must be digested within an hour, with sweet fruit sugars such as a banana that requires up to three hours to be digested. The sugars, from the acid-fruits, would be held up three hours or more waiting to be digested, and would ferment and produce various toxins in the body because they were not properly digested within their allotted time frame of one hour.

The rule for combining various sugars, resulting from various food classifications such as starch or fruits, may result in indigestion, due to bad food-combining practices. This fermentation process is due to the various digestive times required to break these foods into sugars that the body would accept. Just because two alkaline-forming foods metabolize alkaline when eaten alone, does not mean that they will metabolize alkaline when you combine them. Eating a banana with an orange is considered an acid-forming diet, because it will metabolize an acid-forming ash as its end product, called, NAE (net acid excretion).

The lack of knowledge and application of Correct Food Combining Principles is the GREATEST MISTAKE that most Acid/Alkaline Balance AUTHORS have in common. They simply do not understand the scientific health importance of correct food-combining. In addition, they do not understand the various food classifications such as acid-fruits, sub-acid fruits and sweet fruits and their relationship in regards to their compatibility when combined. If foods, when combined, are not compatible during the digestive process, they will metabolize as an acid-forming ash when excreted and, therefore, will be considered an acid-forming diet.

Acid-forming diets are the major cause of a very unhealthy condition called Acidosis and are the leading cause of many diseases such as Crohn’s, Diverticulitis, cancer, colon related diseases, strokes, diabetes, and many others.

WHAT IS ACIDOSIS?

Acidosis Definition: Acidosis is an increased acidity in the blood and other body tissue. Acidosis is said to occur when arterial pH falls below 7.35. The pH level of our blood affects every cell in our body. Chronic acidosis corrodes body tissue, and if left unchecked, will interrupt all cellular activities and functions.

WHAT CAUSES ACIDOSIS?

HIGH ACID-FORMING FOODS and DIETS all lead to ACIDOSIS.

Living a fast-paced daily lifestyle, such as eating on the run and excessive over stimulation, will lead people to face a constant symptoms of indigestion and growing endangerment of over-acidification (Acidosis) of the body cells, which will interrupt cellular activities and functions. It is a major root of sickness and disease. Having our cells constantly exposed to an acidic environment leads to acidosis and then chronic acidosis and finally various forms of disease such as cancer and many more!

Studies have shown that an acidic, anaerobic (which is also the lack of oxygen) body environment encourages the breeding of fungus, mold, bacteria, and viruses. As a result, our inner biological terrain shifts from a healthy oxygenated, alkaline environment to an unhealthy acidic one (acidic pH scale).

This forces the body to constantly deplete its cellular energy to neutralize and detoxify these acids before they can act as poisons in and around the cells, ultimately changing the environment of each cell and finally compromising its immune system leaving it vulnerable to the ravages of disease to take a foothold in the body. When our body pH becomes overly acidic, it starts to set up defense mechanisms to keep the damaging acids from entering the vital organs.

Modern Day Athletes and Acid-Forming Foods

Unfortunately, Modern Day Athletes and/or Non-Athletes have been raised in a fast food environment that is more concerned about convenience than health. Therefore, here lies the crux of a “nutrient-deficient society” that has been raised, for the most part, if not all, on pure junk foods that lack the macro and micro minerals and vitamins, required by the body to attain and maintain a higher level of health. Modern Day Athletes and Non-Athletes have been reared on McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Burger King Specials, Pizza Hut, Micro-Waved Frozen Food Dinners, and every establishment providing high-fat, high-protein and starched meal dishes.

Modern Day Athletes/Non-Athletes are at the all-time high of those suffering from “chronic acidosis” and, at the very least, “low chronic acidosis” due to eating High Acid-Forming Diets. High Acid-Forming Diets equate to acidifying body tissue on a cellular level. Acidified body tissue is poor, inferior quality body tissue, which will eventually rear its ugly head and deny every athlete the opportunity to attain optimum health and peak athletic power, strength and endurance. Yes, it may even lead to a career-ending injury that could have been prevented. An ounce of Prevention is worth more than a pound of flesh, so the expression goes.

WHAT ARE THE FIRST SIGNS OF ACIDOSIS?

Acidosis Symptoms are the first signs and effects of Acidosis. They are followed by more aggressive acidosis symptoms such as diabetic acidosis and lactic acidosis symptoms which lead to full blown lactic acidosis or renal tubular acidosis.

UNHEALTHY ACIDOSIS SYMPTOMS:

Central Nervous System
Headaches
Sleepiness
Confusion
Loss of Consciousness
Coma
Heart
Arrhythmia
Increased Heart Rate
Intestinal & Gastric
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Nausea
Respiratory
Shortness of Breath
Coughing

ADDITIONAL ACIDOSIS EFFECTS & CONDITIONS:
(1) Renal Tublular Acidosis and (2) Lactic Acidosis

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF LACTIC ACIDOSIS AND RENAL TUBULAR ACIDOSIS?

Renal Tubular Acidosis (RTA) is a medical condition that involves an accumulation of acid in the body due to a failure of the kidneys to appropriately acidify the urine. When blood is filtered by the kidney, the filtrate passes through the tubules of the nephron allowing for exchange of salts, acid equivalents, and other solutes before it drains into the bladder as urine. The metabolic acidosis that results from RTA may be caused either by failure to recover sufficient (alkaline) bicarbonate ions from the filtrate in the early portion of the nephron (proximal tubule) or by insufficient secretion of (acid) hydrogen ions into the latter portions of the nephron (distal tubule). Although a metabolic acidosis also occurs in those with renal insufficiency, the term RTA is reserved for individuals with poor urinary acidification in otherwise well-functioning kidneys. Several different types of RTA exist, which all have different syndromes and different causes. The word acidosis refers to the tendency for RTA to lower the blood’s pH. When the blood pH is below normal (7.35), this is called acidemia. The metabolic acidosis caused by RTA is normal.

Lactic Acidosis Symptoms: Causes and Treatment
Lactic acidosis is a physiological condition that occurs due to an increase of lactic acid in the blood. This causes the blood pH to become too acidic. Lactate is a by-product formed when glucose is broken down aerobically by the cell’s mitochondria – the power house of the cell. When the body or a region of the body is deprived of oxygen, it leads to tissue hypoxia. This results in anaerobic breakdown of the glucose in the cells.

The end product of this reaction is lactic acid. The blood pH becomes too acidic due to presence of excess lactic acid in the tissues. Thus, leading to lactic acidosis, which is a rare condition. People, who suffer from lactic acidosis, may develop serious complications, especially when they suffer from certain risk factors. In extreme cases, it may also lead to death.
Symptoms of Lactic Acidosis

When there is excess of lactic acid in the body, the muscular as well as cardiac activity becomes very difficult. The heart starts beating fast, the muscles begin to hurt and one experiences a burning sensation in the muscles. Other symptoms for lactic acidosis include:

Nausea
Vomiting
Abdominal pain
Lethargy
Abnormal breathing
Low blood pressure
Irregular heart rhythm
Causes of Lactic Acidosis

Lactic Acidosis is caused if a person reaches the anaerobic threshold or lactate threshold. This is the upper limit of the ability of an individual’s body to exercise. When a person exercises at a limit below the lactate threshold, very little lactic acid will be produced. Thus, the liver will be able to get rid of the excess present. However, if the person crosses their threshold limit, it leads to glucose inefficiency. This means, the muscles undergo an alternative reaction and start producing lactic acid. This new product begins to build up in the blood and muscles leading to symptoms of lactic acidosis. Most of the time after a strenuous exercise, running or due to some other activity, one may develop mild to moderate lactic acidosis. This condition is not very serious and may resolve on its own. However, if one experiences extreme pain and discomfort and develops this condition frequently, then a doctor’s attention is a must.

Lactic Acidosis may also be the result of several underlying medical conditions, such as some genetic disorders, kidney diseases, diabetic nephropathy, heart diseases and lung diseases and also from drugs like phenformin, metformin. In some people, hemorrhage, ethanol toxicity, shock, diabetic ketoacidosis or sepsis may also lead to lactic acidosis. It may even occur due to lact of vitamin B1 (thiamine) deficiency in the body.
Lactic Acidosis is a dangerous condition. Consult your doctor if you suspect lactic acidosis. If a specific medication has been advised, do not stop taking your medication. Also, if you suspect certain prescribed drugs may be the reason behind the possible symptoms of lactic acidosis, speak to your doctor before you stop the medication. It’s always better to remain alert when it concerns your health. As the old saying goes, ‘Health is Wealth’!

WHAT IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE ACIDOSIS TREATMENT?

Stop eating acid-forming foods and start eating alkaline-forming diets that emphasize eating a diet comprised of 80% alkaline-forming foods. Alkaline forming diets help to reduce the strain on the body’s acid-detoxification systems, such as the kidneys. You will notice within a few days that your symptoms of acidosis will begin to subside and finally cease to be a diseased condition.

HOW CAN WE PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM pH IMBALANCES?

First, a healthy diet is the best place to start. If you wish to eliminate acidosis symptoms, cutting back on acid forming foods and beverages such as animal protein, coffee, and wine can help. Nevertheless, remember that just because a food is chemically acidic does not automatically mean it’s an acid-producing food. (For example, citrus fruits actually have an alkalizing effect on the body, as do most fruits and vegetables.) To maintain a healthy pH balance, many natural practitioners recommend a diet comprised of anywhere from a 60/40 to as much as an 80/20 ration in favor of alkalizing foods over acid-producing foods.
